Location:  RSA Building, Mobile, AL

AHR was the contractor of choice for the RSA Renaissance Hotel Remodeling at the Riverview location in Mobile, Alabama. AHR was chosen to perform the work because of the unusual design, aggressive schedule, and overall difficulty involved.

AHR designed and installed, turn key, the Tundish Dump Ventilation Systems for the Caster area of the mill. AHR was requested to supply a retractable roof that would better allow for an enclosed vent hood to contain the dust and fumes during the dumping and cleaning out of the tundish area bunker. This had been a problematic system in the past as that it was not enclosed and multiple side draft hood designs proved to be in-effective. This system has been in use now for 6 years and has performed better than originally expected.

AHR quite often has the opportunity to “think out of the box”. That said, our AIR Saver Systems group, headed by M. Rettig, recently completed a total re-design of the melt shop fume collection DEC systems duct at IPSCO’s Axis, AL (Mobile) facility. As it is in most steel mills, the duct was routed over the building roof. This always creates issues relative to maintenance, inspections, and general attention required to monitor the overall condition of the duct. MOST mills don’t know there are problems…until the duct is ready to fall.
